Slaven Bilic: “One day I would like to manager in the Premier League”

1. Fan love

Sam Allardyce did not have the most harmonious of relationships with the West Ham faithful, he was neither a fan favourite nor a coach that really won the supporters respect. Slaven Bilic in contrast is without a shadow of a doubt a ‘people person’, he knows the importance of winning over the fans and more importantly knows how to win them over. Bilic was the darling of the media in Turkey, his witty comments, humour and humility won over the press and the fans. The former Croatian national team manager regularly praised the fans. Ahead of the Europa League Round of 32 second leg clash against Liverpool he said: “With the 12th man behind us we can win.” Indeed they did win and he cited the supporters as being one of the reasons behind that memorable victory. Even during his darkest hour, when the Black Eagles title aspirations fell to pieces within a 10 day span the clubs main ultra group Çarşı rallied behind him and urged the board not to part ways with Bilic.
