Turkey extended their unbeaten run to 13 games in all competitions following their 2-1 win over Austria.

Barcelona star Arda Turan started against Austria and scored the winning goal.

Here are three things we learned from his display.

1. Prolific for Turkey

The bearded winger has now been involved in eight out of the last 10 goals Turkey has scored – four goals and four assists. In contrast Turan has two goals and four assists for Barcelona in 17 appearances for the reigning La Liga champions. The 29-year-old does however, play in a more advanced role for the Crescent-Stars and is given more freedom in the final third.

2. Leader

Turan was given the captains armband against Austria and rallied his team after conceding the opening goal inside 20 minutes. The Barca star never dropped his shoulders and ended up scoring the winning goal. Turkey have a youthful side and most of the young players look up to Turan. The star winger bigged up the young guns after the game via Instagram with the following post.

3. Decision making

The Turkish international star made the most of a mistake by Austria goalkeeper Ramazan lobbing the ball over him from just past the half way line. Turan showed great intelligence and quick decision making in spotting the keeper off his line before executing a perfectly weighted chip into the back of the net.
