Arsenal returned to winning ways earlier this week when they defeated West Brom by a two goal scoreline.

Mesut Ozil started for the Gunners but was unable to extend his assist record. Here are three things we learned following his performance.

1. Pass Master

Ozil is renowned as an impressive passer of the ball but he was outstanding even for his high standards against Villa. The World Cup winner passed at 91 percent accuracy, made the most long balls (2) the most through balls (4) and the most key passes (4).

2. Ozil needs reinforcements

Arsenal have scored the fewest goals in the top four yet have a player that has not only provided the most assists in the league (19) but also shattered the record for most chances created. Ozil has created a whopping 146 chances this season which is the highest record since records began in 2003-04. The problem is clearly in Ozil’s teammates.

3. Ozil is not the problem

Ozil has provided the highest number of assists in the Premier League this season (19) and as already established he would have more assists to his name had it not been for the profligacy of his teammates. The Germany international of Turkish origin has an impressive assist record but has setup just four goals since the turn of the year. The Gunners incompetence in-front of goal since in 2016 has played a major role in losing out on the league title.
