Akpom underlined that it has been surreal training with the Arsenal stars and that he feels as if he is living the dream.
“When I look around and see the likes of [Rosicky] and Mesut Özil, well these are people you play on Fifa with, that you watch on TV, so for me to be in the changing room with them… it’s amazing. It really feels like I have come a long way,” Akpom told the official Arsenal magazine.
The 19-year-old has made seven appearances for the North London based club this season.
Akpom joined the Arsenal academy in 2002 and has enjoyed loan spells at Brentford, Coventry City and Nottingham Forest before breaking into the Gunners first team.
Özil joined Arsenal on a record breaking £42.5 million transfer fee from Real Madrid in 2013.
The 26-year-old is expected to start against 16th placed Sunderland in the Premier League at the Emirates tonight.
The World Cup winners has five goals and nine assists in 29 appearances for the Gunners this season.
