Albayrak slams Prandelli’s decision to bench Sneijder [divider]
Galatasaray board member Abdurrahim Albayrak lambasted Cesare Prandelli’s decision to not include Wesley Sneijder in the starting XI against Trabzonspor.
“These rumours that Ali Dürüst did not play Wesley Sneijder are ridiculous,” Albayrak said.
“When I saw the starting lineup I was shocked, Ali Dürüst was shocked, I knew we would struggle with this lineup.
“But we cannot get involved in team selection, I want to apologise to all the fans.
“The fans buy season tickets to watch Sneijder, to watch quality football.
“Also these rumours that we are trying to ruin Sneijder’s morale so that he leaves are ludicrous, whoever is saying this within the club should resign with immediate effect.
“We extended Sneijder’s contract, we are on great terms, these rumours are nonsense.”
Sneijder played the last 30 minutes in Galatasaray’s 3-0 loss against Trabzonspor.
The Netherlands international has six goals and one assist in all appearances this season.
