Barcelona signed Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid for a £24 million a fortnight ago. The transfer has already resulted in an increase in tour package sales to the Spanish city from Turkey.
The Arda Turan package include flights, Barcelona match tickets and sightseeing tours around the city according to the Tour Operator Platform press officer Cem Polatoğlu.
“The Arda Turan tours will starts from next month they will be two to three days long and include flights, match tickets, city transport, sightseeing tours and will be priced from €299 upwards,” Polatoğlu told AA.
Marketing manager of Pronotour Sarp Özkar also told AA that Spain is the fifth most visited country among Turkish tourists and that there has been a 30 percent increase in visits to the country.
“The Arda Turan tour packages have been popular and even unimportant games for Atletico Madrid had a lot of interest,” he told AA.
Barcelona also have two Turkish sponsors in Beko and Lassa. Turkish Airlines also maintain close ties with the club and Lionel Messi is a brand ambassador for the airline carrier.
Turan has a cult following in Turkey and has a large fanbase in Spain as well. The bearded winger has won almost everything there is to win at club level and was also part of the Atletico Madrid side that reached the Champions League final in the 2013-14 season.
