Turkish international star Arda Turan could be permitted to play for his new club Barcelona with immediate effect according to Sky Sports.

The reigning La Liga champions are threatening to take FIFA to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS) if they try to prevent the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) from registering the 28-year-old winger.

Barcelona were unable to register summer signing Turan during the last transfer window due to a ban imposed on the club by FIFA.

The RFEF do however, permit La Liga sides to replace a player with a long term injury with an unregistered player.

Rafinha recently picked up a lengthy injury and according to RFEF regulations Turan should be able to replace him however, FIFA have been hinting that it could conflict with their regulations.

Barcelona have revealed that they could take FIFA to CAS if they do try to block Turan’s registration.

“The legal department has confirmed that FIFA has not responded to the latest request presented on Friday, the third the club made,” Barca said in a statement.

“Given the lack of a reply, an appeal will be presented on Thursday to FIFA’s appeals committee as a precursor to an appeal to CAS.”

Turan recently featured in the Turkish national team side that booked a place in Euro 2016 as the transfer ban does not apply to international games.
