Arda Turan – ‘Galatasaray are the Barcelona of Turkey’

Barcelona team news

Barcelona star Arda Turan obviously has quite a lot of free time on his hands having been banned from playing for his club until January due to the FIFA transfer restriction imposed on the reigning La Liga champions.

Turan has been keeping his millions of social media followers entertained with his all time best XI’s, FIFA 16 competitions and recently sparked a bit of controversy in Turkey when he told French magazine So Foot that Galatasaray are the equivalent of Barcelona in Turkey.

The bearded winger did however, make it clear that he was making the comparison in financial terms.

“Beşiktaş are similar to Atletico Madrid in the way they are setup, Galatasaray have a lot more money like the difference between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid you could say Galatasaray are the Barcelona of Turkey,” Turan was quoted as saying by So Foot (via Fanatik).

Turan rose through the ranks of the Galatasaray youth system before making a name for himself in Turkey earning a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Turkish international won almost every trophy at club level before a high profile move to Barcelona over the summer transfer window.
