“I always strive to improve, the best sportsmen and women always strive to be better, that is why Michael Jordan and Federer are my idols,” Turan said in an interview with the Turkish Health and Sports Ministry magazine, Gençlik Spor Dergisi.

Jordan won six NBA championships, two Olympic Gold medals and five Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards over the span of his career.

The former NBA star is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all.

Federer has won 17 Grand Slam singles titles and has featured in each Grand Slam Final at least five times. The Swiss tennis player has been ranked inside the top 10 since October 2002.

Turan has become an integral part of Atletico Madrid since arriving from Galatasaray in 2011.

The Atleti attacking midfielder became the first Turkish international to win the La Liga title last season and he has also won the Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and Copa Del Rey.
