Barcelona presidential hopeful Josep Maria Bartomeu sparked off speculation that Turan could be joining the Catalan giants this summer.

“He’s [Arda Turan] a good player, with great quality and perfectly matches what Luis Enrique is wanting this coming season.” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

Radio Cadena SER however, disclosed that the interim board of the La Liga champions ruled out a move for the bearded winger until after the elections on 18 July.

The Turkish international’s agent Ahmet Bulut recently confirmed that Turan would be signing for a new club within the next few days and also hinted at a move to England.

“He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time,” Bulut told AS.

Turan provided six assists and three goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for Atletico Madrid last season.
