The report claims that Turan’s father is a huge fan of Johan Cruyff and that the bearded winger wants to honour his dad by wearing the same shirt number the Barcelona legend wore as a player.
Turan has wore the number 14 shirt in the past. The 28-year-old has used the number 14 for the Turkish national team before switching to number 10.
The Barcelona winger initially wore the number 22 shirt at Galatasaray to represent the postal code of the city his family originate from – Edirne.
Turan has worn the number 22, 66, 10, 14 and 11 on his shirt in the past for previous teams.
The Turkish international recently completed his £24 million transfer from Atletico Madrid to Barcelona but will be unable to play until January due to the transfer ban imposed on the club by FIFA.
Turan signed a five-year deal with the La Liga champions reported to be worth £6 million per-season.
