Fenerbahçe striker Robin van Persie praised former manager Arsene Wenger in a recent interview with the Sunday Times.

Van Persie revealed that in his opinion Wenger is a world class manager and that the two still get along.

“People think there was an argument between us [Arsene Wenger]. On the contrary we always had a lot of respect for each other. I’m still talking to Arsene regularly now. He is a world class coach and manager and above all, a classy man,” Van Persie told the Sunday Times.

The 31-year-old striker spent eight seasons at Arsenal during which time he scored 132 goals and made almost 300 appearances.

Van Persie was unable to win the Premier League with Arsenal and decided to jıump ship and join Manchester United in 2012 in pursuit of silverware.

The Netherlands international won the league title in his debut season and scored a total of 58 goals in 105 games for United.

The Dutch star joined Fenerbahçe on a £3.8 million transfer from United last Tuesday and became the second player from Old Trafford to join the Istanbul giants following the singing of Nani a fortnight ago.

Fenerbahçe will take on Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League play-off round at the end of the month.
