Arsenal confident Mesut Ozil will stay despite Barcelona interest

Arsenal are ‘confident’ Mesut Ozil will remain at Arsenal and sign a contract extension despite interest from Barcelona according to the Telegraph.

The daily newspaper state that Arsenal have not received any indication that Ozil is unhappy at the Emirates and are planning to offer him a new contract.

Reports from both Spain and Germany claimed that Barcelona are interested in signing the 27-year-old over the summer.

Ozil is currently Arsenal’s highest earner, along with Alexis Sanchez, on £130,000 pre week. The former Real Madrid man played a key role in Arsenal’s win over Leicester City in the Premier League on Sunday.

The Germany international provided the assist for his sides winning goal in the final seconds of the game.

Ozil provided his 17th Premier League assist in the process – the highest figure in the league.

Arsenal moved two points within leaders Leicester City following their victory over the Foxes.
