Arsenal beat Bayern Munich 2-0 at the Emirates on Champions League Match Day 3 yesterday.

The Gunners went into the game having lost their opening two games of the campaign against Olympiakos and Dynamo Zagreb but managed to pull off a surprise victory against the Germany giants.

Mesut Özil who starred and scored against the Bundesliga outfit revealed that the Gunners were deserved winners on the night.

“But ultimately I think we deserved to win. They had more possession but we had the clearer chances and that’s why we’re really pleased to have got the three points today,” Özil told the official Arsenal website.

Özil has now scored in his last two big games. The World Cup winner netted and provided an assist in the 3-0 win against Manchester United and scored against Bayern yesterday.

The 27-year-old’s last minute shot appeared to have been saved but the Turkish referee Barış Şimşek spotted that the ball crossed the line and gave the goal.

Arsenal remain bottom of Group A but just one point separates the Gunners from Olympiakos and Zagreb who both are on four points.
