The Switzerland internation stated that Ozil is the best number 10 in the game and looks forward to playing alongside him this season.
Xhaka made the move to Arsenal from Borussia Monchengladbach earlier this summer for a fee in the region of £30 million according to SkySports.
“I don’t know a better No.10 than Mesut,” Xhaka said when asked about Ozil by Arsenal’s official website.
“He’s very important for this team, as he’s shown in the past. He has his qualities, he’s something special and I hope he shows that next season.
“He’s played for Germany, for Real Madrid and is a terrific player. He’s got an excellent final pass and a superb first touch.
“I’m definitely looking forward to playing alongside him.”
The 23-year-old joined Monchengladbach from FC Basel where he spent 10 years and won two Swiss league titles. Xhaka made over 100 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach and scored six goals.
Mesut Ozil is a doubt for Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Liverpool at the Emirates on Sunday, kick-off is at 16:00 (GMT).
