Arsenal join race for Atletico Madrid winger

Arsenal have joined the race for Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan according to the Telegraph.

The North London based outfit are reported to be targeting Turan as a replacement for Santi Carzola should he join Alteti.

The Turkish intentional will leave Atleti over the next few days as confirmed by his agent Ahmet Bulut but he would set Arsenal back €41 million.

The Gunners have been closely linked with Turan over the past few seasons but Manchester United and Chelsea have been front runners in the race to sign the bearded winger over the summer transfer window.

Bulut revealed that he is in talks with three Premier League clubs and stated that Turan does want to move to England.

“He intends to leave Spain this summer. It is his will to go out to play in the Premiership, that is where he would like to continue his career at this time,” Bulut told AS.

“His departure from Atletico is not easy because he has a clause of €41m. There are ongoing talks with three teams at the moment. I cannot say their names, but they are the best of England and European football.”

The move would be Turan’s first to the Premier League but the 28-year-old does have experience playing aboard having enjoyed successful stints in Turkey and Spain.

Turan became the first Turkish international player to win the La Liga with Atleti in the 2013-14 season.
