Arsenal legend labels star playmaker the 'Assist King'

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has labeled the Gunners star playmaker Mesut Ozil as the ‘assist king.’

Speaking to BT Sport, Wright stated that Arsenal players must make sure to feed the ball to Ozil and let him create chances.

Ozil recorded 19 assists for Arsenal in the Premier League season last season. The Germany international was just one off matching Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a single Premier League season.

“Its up to arsenal to make sure he does get on the ball and is able to create,” Wright told BTSport.

“Because he is, lets face it, he is an assist king.”

Ozil sat out of Arsenal’s opening game of the season against Liverpool. The Germany international’s absence was sorely missed as Arsenal ended up losing 4-3 at the Emirates.

The 27-year-old is also a doubt to face Leicester City this weekend. There are  concerns over Ozil’s fitness and his extended break may end up lasting even longer than expected.

However, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is considering whether to risk Ozil against Premier League champions Leicester City on the weekend.
