Arsenal & Man Utd target set to stay in Turkey

Beşiktaş midfielder Oğuzhan Özyakup has pledged to stay at Beşiktaş over the winter transfer window according to the Takvim newspaper.

The Turkish international has been closely linked with a move abroad after an impressive start to the season but has underlined that he will stay at the club.

“I have had offers but unless I get an offer from the three clubs I would consider joining I will not even consider moving I want to be successful at Beşiktaş before anything,” Özyakup was quoted as saying.

The 23-year-old central midfielder has caught the attention of Manchester United scouts according to the Milliyet (via Eurosport).

The daily newspaper states that United scouts who were sent to keep tabs on Mario Gomez, turned their attention towards Özyakup following his impressive display against Bursaspor.

Özyakup rose through the ranks of the Arsenal youth system before joining Beşiktaş and his former club have also shown an interest as they continue efforts to sign a deep-lying midfielder according to Talksport.

The Turkish international has has established himself as a key member of Şenol Güneş’s Beşiktaş team and a played a major role in Turkey reaching the European Championships this summer.

The 23-year-old has four goals and six assists in all competitions for the Istanbul giants this season.
