Arsenal must improve defensively if they are to qualify to the next round of the UEFA Champions League according to Mesut Ozil.

The North London based side are required to win by two goals or more in order to reach the Last 16. Olympiakos defeated Arsenal by a 3-2 scoreline at the Emirates Stadium back in September.

Ozil went onto state that Arsenal want to be ahead going into the half-time break.

“We want to win this game with the two goals in our favour. We have to be good in defence. If they score a goal then we have to score three goals, but we know that we can score goals,” Ozil was quoted as saying by ESPN.

“We know that we have a lot of quality up front, but our goal is to go into half-time ahead and then we will know that everything is possible.

“We have to also be careful in defence that we don’t concede a goal.”

Ozil has been in impressive form of late and provided his 12th assist for the season for Arsenal’s opening goal against Sunderland on the weekend.

The 27-year-old received a rating of 8.5 from WhoScored making him the man of the match made five key passes and took 122 touches on the ball during the game.

The Germany international has scored four goals and provided 12 assists in 20 appearances for Arsenal this season.
