Arsenal set aside €70 million for Gundogan and Hummels

Arsenal have set aside €70 million for the transfers od the Borussia Dortmund duo Ilkay Gundogan and Matts Hummels according to the newspaper The Daily Star.

The paper states that the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keep to strengthen his squad in January and wants additions in midfield and defence.

The Gunners are prepared to table a bid of €45 million for the 26-year-old German centre back who has hinted at a move away from the Bundesliga club.

Arsenal have also launched a €30 million bid for Ilkay Gundogan according to The Independent.

The 24-year-old midfielder’s contract expires in 2016 and Dortmund want to avoid losing Gündoğan on a free transfer.

Manchester United have been closely linked with Gündoğan but Arsenal and Liverpool are also reported to be interested in the Dortmund star.

Gündoğan was one of the central figures of the Dortmund side that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season.

Gündoğan has scored on goal in 12 appearances for Dortmund this season.
