Mesut Ozil has endorsed Prince Ali for this afternoon’s FIFA presidential election in Zurich.
The Arsenal playmaker took to social media this morning to publicly back the Jordanian candidate.
Ozil uploaded a picture of himself and Prince Ali to Twitter along with the caption, “Good luck today for the #FIFA presidential elections to my friend, Prince Ali! #Change #FIFAelection.”
Prince Ali is one of five candidates, alongside Sheikh Salman, Gianni Infantino, Tokyo Sexwale and Jerome Champagne, in the running to be elected as FIFA President.
Ozil has racked up 17 assists in the Premier League with 14 league games left to play. The World Cup winner is just three assists of matching Theirry Henry’s record of 20.
Arsenal ended up losing to Barcelona by a two goal margin during the week with both goals coming from Lionel Messi.
The Gunners will have to beat Barcelona at the Camp Nou by two goals or more to stand any chance of making it to the next round. Ozil’s side take on Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.
Arsenal are joint second in the League, two points behind leaders Leicester City.
