Arsenal star Mesut Ozil aims for Premier League title following FA Cup win

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has stated that he wants Arsenal to challenge for the Premier League title this season following back-to-back FA Cup success.

The Gunners have lifted the FA Cup trophy both in 2014 and 2015 making them the most successful club in the competition. However, Arsenal last won the Premier League title back in 2004.

“After two FA Cup victories in the past two years, we want to be in the mix for the Premier League title,” Özil was quoted as saying by the Standard.

“We also need to beat the knockout stages curse in Champions League.”

Özil is expected to start in Germany’s Euro 2016 qualification clash with Scotland tonight. Germany have won their last four games and sit at the top of Group D with 16 points in seven games.

The 2014 World Cup winners have scored 19 and conceded just five goals so for in the qualification stages.

The 26-year-old missed Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle due to a knee injury last week but is expected to play his second game in four days later today.

Özil return from injury will be a boost to Arsenal fans. The Gunners were the only club from the top five European leagues not to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window.
