Özil posted a picture of the goal along with the following caption, “Gunners!!!! We’re back in business!!!!!! #YaGunnersYa … (ouh yaa 😉) #AFCvFCB #UCL #birthdaypresent.”
Özil scored Arsenal’s second goal in their 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
The 27-year-old scored late in the second half to secure all three points for the Gunners.
Arsenal had gotten off to a slow start in the Champions League after suffering two defeats in their opening two games against Olympiakos and Dinamo Zagreb.
Munich have been long term admirers of Özil according to the Daily Mail. The 27-year-old opted to move to Real Madrid back in 2010 and evaded Munich’s clutches. The daily newspaper states that Munich have prided themselves on signing the best German players available but have been unable to land Özil.
