Arsenal playmaker Mesut Özil has taken to social media shortly after the game to celebrate his sides Community Shield win.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the game’s only goal in a close encounter at Wembley. The victory is the first time Arsène Wenger has beaten José Mourinho in 14 attempts.
Özil posted a picture with the Community Shield alongside club captain Per Mertesacker. The former Real Madrid man also included the caption, “Yaaa Gunners Yaaaaaa ….. second time community shield maaan.”
Özil has won his third piece of silverware this summer following the FA Cup, Barclays Asia Trophy and the Emirates Cup.
The Gunners star received a rating of 6.46 from whoscored.com. The 26-year-old made three key passes and maintained a passing accuracy of 81%.
Today’s encounter came 64 days after Arsenal ended the 2014-15 seasons with a 4-0 win over Aston Villa in the FA Cup final.
Petr Cech made his Arsenal debut against his former side Chelsea where he spent 11 seasons and won several Premier League titles as well as the Champions League.
