Arsenal star Mesut Ozil impresses in Germany's 3-1 win over Poland

Mesut Özil kept his place in Germany’s starting line-up despite receiving criticism both in Germany and England.

Germany boss Joachim Low kept faith in the Arsenal man and played him behind the striker in Özil’s favoured ‘number 10’ role.

The 26-year-old received a rating of 7.0 from whoscored after making two key passes and maintaining a pass accuracy of 88%.

Özil is expected to feature in Germany’s clash with Scotland on Tuesday. Germany are top in Group D with 16 points in seven games. The 2014 World Cup winners have won their last four group games.

The World Cup winners return from injury will be a boost to Arsenal fans. The Gunners were the only club from the top five European leagues not to sign an outfield player during the summer transfer window.

Özil had started in all of Arsenal’s games this season until picking up his injury. Arsenal are without a win at the Emirates but will be hoping to turn around their fortunes at home when they take on host Stoke City on 12 September after the international break.
