Arsene Wenger has also decided to leave out Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud. Ozil has been on extended break as as Giroud due to their Euro 2016 campaign.
Ozil made it to the semi-finals with Germany while Giroud reached the final with France before losing to eventual winners Portugal.
Sanchez has also had a busy summer winning the Copa America with Chila in the US.
Ozil is expected to be match fit before the start of the 2016-17 Premier League campaign. The Germany international of Turkish origin did offer his side moral support over the course of the US tour supporting his side at the stadium over some of the games.
The Gunners will take on Viking FK on Friday in Norway and Manchester City on Sunday in Sweden.
