Arsenal star pleased to have another German Turk in the Premier League

Arsenal star Mesut Ozil revealed that he is pleased to have Ilkay Gundogan in the Premier League.

Gundogan was snapped up by Manchester City as was his Germany national teammate Leroy Sane and the Premier League outfit will be stronger as a result according to Ozil.

“I am particularly pleased at City, where two of my team-mates from the German team, Leroy Sane and Ilkay Gundogan, are playing. They bring both a great quality and the Premier League will be even better for it,” Ozil was quoted as saying Spox.

City have now signed Ilkay Gundogan, Nolito, Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and John Stones.

Gundogan and Ozil are both Germany international players of Turkish origin with families from Afyon and Zonguldak, respectively.

There are now a total of four ethnic Turks born in Germany in the Premier League – Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, West Ham loanee Gokhan Tore as well as Ozil and Gundogan.

In total there are six Turks contracted to Premier League clubs including Enes Unal – born in Turkey – of City and Leicester City midfielder Gokhan Inler – born in Switzerland.

Gundogan has yet to feature for City due to being injured but Ozil returned to training today and could feature for Arsenal against Liverpool on Saturday.
