Arsenal star Mesut Özil believes his new training regime has made a significant difference to his performance since returning from injury.
Özil missed three months due to a knee injury he suffered in October.
“I worked really hard and I think it shows in training and in matches that I’m fresher. I’m really happy to be back on the pitch and able to do what I most love,” Özil told the official Arsenal website.
Özil had been criticised for not working hard enough and lacking the physique to compete in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old has returned fitter and stronger and Arsenal have benefitted as a result.
Özil has scored three times and created four goals since returning to the starting team in Janary.
Arsenal have won seven out of eight Premier League games in which Özil has started in 2015.
The Gunners take on Monaco next in the Champions League Last 16 second-leg game.
Arsenal will have to turn around the 3-1 aggregate loss they suffered at the Emirates in the first leg.
