Arsenal striker Lukas Podolski called for Twitter users to follow his friend, Gökhan Töre and shared a picture posing with the Beşiktaş winger.
Podolski tweeter, “My bro @Gokhan_Tore7 now on Twitter!! #Istanbul #Cologne #Turkey #Töre #Abi #Kardes #Poldi #Twitter @Gokhan_Tore7”
Töre courted controversy last year when a friend of his pulled a gun on Turkish national teammates Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Ömer Toprak.
The 22-year-old winger was not called up to the national team for a year however, Fatih Terim has since called him up.
Terim has heavily criticised for calling Töre back while dropping Çalhanoğlu and Toprak.
Töre and Podolski both grew up in the German city of Cologne. Podolski who is of Polish origin represents the German national team and was part of the World Cup winning side this summer.
The Turkish international joined Beşiktaş on a permanent deal from Rubin Kazan this summer and has three goals and five assists this season.
