Arsenal target Calhanoglu flattered by Barcelona interest [divider]

Bayer Leverkusen star Hakan Çalhanoğlu admitted that he is flattered by interest from Barcelona but underlined that he is happy at his current club.

“There has been no official offer from Barcelona, but I am obviously flattered by the rumours that they are interested in me,” Çalhanoğlu was quoted as saying in the Express.

Çalhanoğlu revealed that he is fully focused on the Champions League and Bundesliga campaign right now.

“My agent handles the proposals that I get but right now I’m good at Leverkusen and I will not leave,” he added.

“I want to achieve certain goals in the course of my career, but right now I am totally focused on the second leg of the Champions League game against Atletico.”

The 21-year-old scored the winning goal in the Champions League first-leg game against Atletico Madrid in the BayArena last week.

Çalhanoğlu is expected to start against Atleti in the second-leg at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

The young midfielder has also been closely linked with Arsenal according to the Daily Star.

Çalhanoğlu has scored ten times and provided eight assists in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit.

The Turkish international was named best young player of the 2013/14 season by leading German football magazine 11 Freunde.
