Beşiktaş midfielder Tolgay Arslan was officially unveiled in a signing ceremony today.
Arslan was asked whether he had received an offer from Arsenal before joining the Black Eagles by reporters at the signing ceremony.
“Yes I had offers from England,” Arslan said.
“I also had offers from Italy and Trabzonspor made me a great offer and my agent done his job trying to get me the best deal but I made Beşiktaş a promise last month and kept my word despite receiving offers for more money,” Arslan said.
Arslan was closely linked with Arsenal and a number of Italian clubs prior to his transfer to Beşiktaş.
Trabzonspor were also in talks with the former HSV midfielder and were reported to have offered better terms.
Arslan joined the Black Eagles on a €400,000 transfer from Hamburg on a 3.5 year deal yesterday.
The assiduous midfielder will make €650,000 until the end of the current league campaign and €1.3 million next season.
The 24-year-old scored on his debut for the Black Eagles in the Turkish Cup on Thursday.
Arslan scored in the 3-1 win against Sarıyer to take Beşiktaş into second place in Group F.
Arslan had two assists in 15 appearances in all competitions for HSV this season.
