Arsenal unable to unlock Hull City defence in Mesut Ozil's absence

Mesut Ozil

Arsenal were unable to unlock Hull City’s defence today in Mesut Ozil’s absence.

The 27-year-old was rested for the Gunners clash with Hull in the FA Cup at the Emirates Stadium.

Ozil has created 105 chances for his side this season and has racked up 17 assists in the Premier League alone.

Arsenal ended up drawing 0-0 with Hull City and will play the Championship side in a FA Cup replay at the KC stadium.

The Germany international is expected to return to Arsenal’s starting line-up for the Gunners encounter with Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League next week.

Ozil has been in great form for Arsenal this season and provided the assist for the Gunners last-gasp goal that saw them cut the gap between themselves and league leaders Leicester City to two points.

The World Cup winner has six goals in all competitions and 17 assists in the Premier League – the highest in the league.
