Arsenal's Mesut Ozil backs Man Utd star Schweinsteiger to succeed

Mesut Özil has backed his Germany international teammate Bastian Schweinsteiger to succeed at Manchester United.

The 26-year-old stated that Schweinsteiger is well equipped to handle the pressures of the Premier League.

“The Premier League is worthy experience for every player. It is a very strong league,” Özil told the German newspaper Express.

“You can’t even rest against strugglers. And while Manchester United have a strong squad, Basti is a fighter with a lot of experience.”

Schweinsteiger joined Manchester United from the Bundesliga Champions Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

Özil now has three assists for the Gunners this season but has yet to open his scoring account. Wenger has repeatedly stated that he wants more goals from Özil this season.

The 26-year-old played a staring role in Arsenal’s 5-2 victory over Leicester City over the weekend.

Arsenal take on Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night and host their rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
