Mesut Ozil believes Man Utd target Hummels would shine in the Premier League

Arsenal star Mesut Özil has urged Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels and Schalke 04 defender Benedikt Howedes to make the move to the Premier League.

Özil who provided three assists in Germany’s 7-0 victory over Gibraltar in the Euro 2016 qualification game feels the Bundesliga duo have what it takes to be a success in England’s top division.

“Mats and Benedikt have the qualities to make a mark at a big club here – if they want to, and that is obviously up to the individual to decide,” Özil told Bild am Sonntag.

Manchester United are understood to be closing in on Hummels according to the Metro while the Daily Mail has linked Howedes with Arsenal.

Germany remain in second place in Group D following the win over Gibraltar. Poland are still group leaders on 14 points after six games.

Özil ended the season on a high but missed three months from October to the turn of the year due to a knee injury he sustained during a 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

The Arsenal star ended up winning two FA Cup trophies and lifting the World Cup in Brazil within the space of a year.
