Arsenal star Mesut Özil has thanked one of his fans on Twitter for a portrait drawn of him. The picture includes the 26-year-old’s famous quote “Ya Gunners ya.”
The portrait was created by @JeffDrewThat and was posted along with the following caption, “Oi, who’s that Ö to the z?” New drawing of @MesutOzil1088 #art #DrawMesut #ozil #Arsenal.”
Özil responded to the post on Twitter saying, “Good job Jeff! #DrawMesut #YaGunnersYa.”
The Germany international featured in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield last weekend.
Özil provided nine assists and five goals in 32 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions last season.
The former Real Madrid player has been in good form since the turn of the year winning two Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month and a PFA Fans Player of the Month award.
The Gunners take on West Ham in their opening game of the 2015-16 season this weekend.
