Atletico Madrid have entered the race to sign Manchester United and Arsenal target Ilkay Gündoğan.
According to a report in the German Sports paper Bild, Atletico Madrid have opened negotiations with their top transfer target, Gündoğan.
Atleti are looking to build upon their success in recent years following the long-term contract extension for manager Diego Simeone.
The 24-year-old’s contract runs out in July 2016 and Dortmund will be keen to cash in if Gündoğan does not put pen to paper on a new deal.
The hard working midfielder was one of the central figures of the Dortmund side that reached the final of the UEFA Champions League in the 2012-13 season.
Gündoğan has four assists and two goals in 22 appearances for Dortmund this season.
