Atletico Madrid not focusing on Real Madrid injuries says Simeone

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has underlined that his side will be focusing on their own game and not the injury situation Real Madrid find themselves in.

Atleti take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium in the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Real Madrid will be without Marcelo (suspended), Modrić (knee), Bale (calf), Benzema (knee).

“I’m thinking about how we can hurt Real Madrid, not about Luka Modrić’s injury. We are focused only on ourselves,” Simeone told the official UEFA website.

The Argentinian manager stated that his side will be under less pressure than Real and that it could work in their favour.

“We want to savour and enjoy more nights like these because they don’t come around often. There is no pressure on these teams, but there is responsibility,” he added.

The first leg at the Vicente Calderon stadium ended in a goalless draw. Atleti are unbeaten against Real in seven meetings this season.

Turkish international Arda Turan is expected to start for Atleti but Mario Suarez is out suspended and Mandzukic is a doubt due to an ankle injury.
