Barcelona are closing in on Manchester United target Ilkay Gundogan

Barcelona are understood to be on the verge of completing Ilkay Gündoğan’s transfer from Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sport – a daily sports newspaper based in Barcelona – the Catalan giants have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old and will unveil the transfer next week. Gündoğan will be unable to play for Barcelona until January 2016 due to a transfer ban.

The report goes onto state that the current Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu wants to wrap up the transfer before the club’s election which are held on June 9.

Barcelona held late talks with Gündoğan in Ibiza amid reports the 24-year-old is on the verge of a switch to Manchester United.

The Express stated that the Catalan club’s representatives traveled to Ibiza where Gündoğan is on holiday to persuade the German midfielder to change his mind.
