Barcelona star has street named after him

Not many players can say they have a street named after them so you could image Arda Turan’s delight when he found out that he now has his very own road in the neighbourhood he grew up in.

There is now a street called Arda Turan in the Bayrampasa district of Istanbul in honour of the Barcelona star.

Turan shared the street sign on his Instagram account alongside the caption: “I want to thank everyone who made it possible to rename the street I grew up in after me. That street is where it all began for me.”

The bearded winger hails from Bayrampaşa – a working class area of Istanbul and first started his career playing street football before being picked up by a local club.

Turan later joined Galatasaray winning every domestic title before his move to Atletico Madrid where he achieved the same feat as well as the Europa League and European Super Cup trophy.

The Turkish international winger joined Barcelona on a five-year deal over the summer and has four assists as well as two goals in 17 appearances for the reigning champions.
