Barcelona star Arda Turan selected as worst transfers of the season

Barcelona v PSG

Arda Turan has endured a turbulent season since joining Barcelona from Atletico Madrid for €34 million last summer.

The Turkish international was unable to play for the first half of the season due to a FIFA imposed transfer ban on the club.

Turan has now also been included in Goal’s list of ‘worst transfers of the season.’

The sports website states that the flamboyant winger failed to make the desired impact since his move from Atleti.

“Turan made his Barcelona debut in January but has been unable to integrate properly into Luis Enrique’s well-oiled winning machine. He was unlikely to ever dislodge the fabled ‘MSN’ trio, but two goals in 25 games is a paltry return.”

However, the criticism may seem harsh as despite missing half of the season Turan had the highest pass accuracy in the team, provided three assists and two goals in 810 minutes of first team football.

Turan became the first Turkish international to win the La Liga for a second time when Barcelona lifted the title over the weekend.

The experienced winger was also the first Turkish international to win the La Liga when he lifted the title with Atletico Madrid.

The 29-year-old is expected to play a key role in Turkey’s Euro 2016 campaign and is likely to be captain.
