Turkish national team boss Fatih Terim has warned Barcelona star Arda Turan that his place in the team is not guaranteed.

Terim underlined that Turan may not be automatically given a place in the side as he has played fewer games than his national team compatriots.

“Arda has played fewer games than everyone else, he may be still in honeymoon mode playing for Barcelona but he needs to prove himself to play for us,” Terim was quoted as saying on TRT.

Turan missed the first half of the season with Barcelona due to the club serving a FIFA transfer ban until January.

The beaded winger made his debut in January and went onto play 25 times for the La Liga champions scoring twice and providing four assists.

Turan was given given just 46 minutes of playing time by head coach Luis Enrique in his last four league games.

Considering he missed the first half of the season and was not 100 percent match fit it is quite understandable why his match fitness tailed off towards the end of the season.

The 29-year-old is still expected to play a key role in Turkey’s Euro 2016 campaign and is likely to be captain.

Turan has four goals and six assists in his last 11 international games for Turkey none of which the Crescent-Stars have lost.
