Barcelona star looking forward to ‘special’ game against former side Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid v Barcelona

Barcelona star Arda Turan has revealed that he is looking forward to playing his former side Atletico Madrid on Saturday 30 January.

Turan told the official Barca TV: “It will be a special game, unique. I believe that both before and after the game I will be nervous.”

The Turkish international star joined Barcelona from Atleti over the summer on a five-year deal after a successful stint at the Rojiblancos.

Turan won every domestic title including the La Liga and Copa del Rey at Atleti as well as the Europa League and European Super Cup.

The only European title the bearded winger did not win was the Champions League although he was part of the 2014 side that made the final.

Turan missed the mid-week cup game against Athletic Bilbao after coming down with the flu but is expected to recover in time for the weekend La Liga clash.

Barcelona are currently first in the league on goal difference ahead of second placed Atleti. Turan has made six appearances for the reigning La Liga champions this season – five starts – and has provided two assists.
