Barcelona to meet with Manchester United target Gundogan

Borussia Dortmund star İlkay Gündoğan

Barcelona sporting director Ariedo Braida may use today’s trip to Germany to hold talks with Borussia Dortmund over Ilkay Gündoğan according to Barca Blaugranes.

According to the website, Barcelona, who are currently serving a transfer ban, want to discuss a transfer fee with Dortmund to sign Gundogan in January 2016 when they are able to sign players once again.

The Catalan Giants want to agree a fee from now despite Gundogan’s contract expiring in July 2016.

Gundogan recently stated that there is a chance he may remain at Dortmund next season.

“That I do not prolong my contract does not necessarily mean that I am gone in the summer.” Gündoğan is quoted as saying by kicker

“I won’t force a transfer come hell or high water, but rather would be ready to stay at the club for one more season if that’s the best alternative for both sides.”

The 24-year-old has four assists and three goals in 30 appearances for Dortmund this season.

Dortmund sit in 9th place in the League with 40 points from 31 games. The Bundesliga Giants no longer have a chance of participating in the UEFA Champions League next season.
