Barcelona to play last game without Arda Turan ahead of Espanyol derby

Arda Turan

Barcelona will play their last game without summer signings Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal going into the Espanyol derby today at the Cornellà-El Prat stadium.

Technically Turan and Vidal are eligible to play however, the Spanish Football Federation were unable to register both players as their offices are closed until Monday when they will open again after the new years holidays.

The Turkish international and Vidal will be registered in time for the return leg against Espanyol in the Spanish Cup on 6 January.

Turan and Vidal joined Barcelona over the summer but have been unable to play due to the FIFA transfer ban which restricted the club from registering new players.

The bearded winger has been assigned the number 7 shirt which was formally worn by Pedro before joining Chelsea over the summer.

Barcelona won five trophies in 2015 including the La Liga as well as the Champions League title and are currently first in the league.
