Bartomeu urges Barcelona board to authorise bid for Chelsea target Arda Turan

Barcelona presidential candidate Josep Maria Bartomeu has urged the Barcelona board to authorise a bid for Atletico Madrid winger Arda Turan.

“I invite the interim committee to sign the player,” he was quoted as saying by Marca.

Radio Cadena SER reported that the interim club board had ruled out making an offer for Turan until the the presidential elections on 18 July.

Bartomeu however, believes the board should make an exception and complete the transfer before the elections.

“He’s a good player, with great quality and perfectly matches what Luis Enrique is wanting this coming season, which is why I, as a pre-candidate, urge the interim committee to take the necessary steps to sign the player. When all parties are in agreement, and above all the manager, that the player is the one we need, the thing to do is to bring him in under the best conditions possible,” he added.
