Former Beşiktaş player Bebe revealed that he learned a lot from Manchester United legend Alex Ferguson but admitted that he thought the Premier League giants €9 million bid was a joke.
“I had a contract with a termination clause of nine million euros and within two days there was a team that wanted to pay it. And I went to Manchester. I thought they were joking,” Bebe told Marca.
“I learned a lot with Ferguson. What went wrong? Well, I was alone. I needed more experience to deal with that. In Manchester I was a child and was alone. I’ve grown and I am a better person, very different.”
United signed Bebe on an €9 million deal from Guimarães in 2010 but only made seven appearances in four seasons for the Red Devils.
Bebe joined the Black Eagles on loan from United in 2011 but only made four appearances for the Turkish giants.
