Napoli manager Rafael Benitez admitted that he was very pleased with his sides performance against Trabzonspor in the Europa League Round of 32 first-leg.

Napoli crushed Trabzonspor 4-0 at the Avni Aker stadium. The win was the Serie A sides biggest away win in European competition.

The loss was also Trabzonspor’s heaviest home defeat in European competition.

“I am very pleased with what we have seen here today. I think we have given a top performance with an excellent result in quite a complicated stadium,” Benitez was quoted as saying on his official website.

Trabzonspor goalkeeper Hakan Arıkan has now conceded 13 goals in his last three games against Rafael Benitez managed sides.

Arıkan was in goal for Beşiktaş’s 8-0 loss against Liverpool in the 2007-08 Champions League at Anfield and the Black Eagles 2-1 win against the Reds in Istanbul.

The win helped relieve pressure off Napoli following their 3-1 loss against Palermo on the weekend.

Trabzonspor are currently in 6th position in the league on 34 points after 21 games.

The Europa League return leg tie will be played on Thursday 26 February in Italy.
