Besiktas aim to sign Liverpool target Mario Gomez by end of week

Besiktas are aiming to compete the transfer of Mario Gomez by the end of the week according to the Turkish Super Lig broadcaster LigTV.

The report states that Besiktas board member Erdal Torunoğulları is in talks with Gomez and Fiorentina and that the Black Eagles want to complete the transfer by the end of the week.

LigTv claim that Besiktas are close to agreeing terms with both Gomez and Fiorentina and want to close the deal before Liverpool make a move.

The Independent recently stated that Liverpool are considering swapping Mario Balotelli with Mario Gomez.

Besiktas sold Demba Ba to Shanghai Shenhua for €14 million last month and are in the market for a replacement striker.

Gomez has a grand total of 166 goals in 308 appearances in all competitions throughout his professional career.

Besiktas will compete in the Europa League this season after finishing the Turkish Super Lig in third place behind Fenerbahce and Galatasaray.
