Besiktas boss wants Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel

Beşiktaş manager Şenol Güneş gave the green light for the club to target Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel according to Eurosport TR.

The Liverpool defender recently confirmed that he will consider his options after rejecting the Reds contract extension according the Guardian.

“The contract, which was presented to me, makes me uneasy, so I did not sign it,” Skrtel told the Slovakian outlet Aktualne.

There has been some speculation about the interest of other clubs for my person, but they are currently being addressed.”

Skrtel also revealed that apart from Manchester United he would be open to a move away from Liverpool.

“I can imagine a transfer to anywhere but to United, never,” he told the Daily Star.

Güneş was appointed manager of Beşiktaş on a two-year deal yesterday and his first task has been strengthening the teams defence.

The Black Eagles struggled defensively last season being forced to play inexperienced youngsters such as Atınç Nukan and central midfielder Necip Uysal as centre-backs to cope with the lack of depth.

Beşiktaş finished the Süper Lig in third place last season and booked a place in the Europa League group stages.
