Besiktas draw Sporting Lisbon in Europa League Group H

Liverpool transfer news

The UEFA Europa League group stage draw took place today at Monaco at 12:00 GMT

Beşiktaş were drawn from Pot 2 against Sporting Lisbon, Lokomotiv Moscow and Molde in Group H.

The Istanbul giants reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League last season beating Tottenham and Liverpool along the way. Beşiktaş eliminated Beşiktaş from the Europa League Round of 32 on penalties but were eventually knocked out by Club Brugge.

Beşiktaş finished last season in third-place but are no longer manager by Slaven Bilic who parted ways with the club to replace Sam Allardyce as West Ham boss.

The Eagles are currently manager by former Turkish national team manager Şenol Güneş who previously guided the Crescent-Stars to third in the 2002 World Cup.

Beşiktaş will be the second Turkish league representative in the Europa League this season alongside Fenerbahçe.

The Turkish Super League side have strengthened over the summer bringing in Mario Gomes, Ricardo Quaresma and Andres Beck.
